Make Sure “Broker Attribution” is Turned on for Your Firm

Last year, NAR made a policy change that all listing displayed in feeds on other member websites (IDX) must display not only the the listing firm/agent name but also an email OR phone number provided by the listing participant in a reasonably prominent location and in a readily visible color and typeface not smaller than the median used in the display of listing data. This meant that all the Designated REALTORS /Brokers in charge of the office have to set what option they want for their firm.  There are two options: Create one identification for the entire firm or allow each agent to pick their own.  To do this:

  • Every Broker needs to go into FlexMLS  Menu | General Preferences
  • See new tab called “Broker Attribution Capability
  • There you can designated a phone number or e-mail address for the whole firm OR give your agents the option to change it

If agents are given the option, a new field appears when they are entering a listing.  The agent can use what appears, change it and/or go in and set their default as well with the same instructions:

  • Go into FlexMLS  Menu | General Preferences
  • See new tab called “Broker Attribution Capability
  • There they can designated a phone number or mail address for your listings.

Also a reminder that all websites using MLS data must have that new “broker attribution” phone number or email address displayed on all of their colleagues listings that appear on their websites.
