Thanks to EVERY REALTOR who responded to the call to action, last night the Senate did not include a local option tax on high-value home sales in a massive borrowing bill focused on housing development.  Our volunteers who went to Beacon Hill also advocated on this issue.  And for those who are worried about local taxation and ongoing spending, please take a look at a study MAR commissioned on on the real impact of transfer taxes on communities, and in short, it’s not a windfall at all in the long run. Bravo to all who helped get our message out, a victory for home sellers and buyers, fought for by REALTORS.
