FYI Board of Reg Update for Renewing Licenses

There is a new real estate licensing platform, eLIPSE replaces ePlace.  This changes how you search, renew or apply for a new real estate license.

Searching for a licensee:

Real Estate License Renewal: Don’t wait until the last minute to renew!!

  • Check the Board’s website: Follow the specific instructions on how to renew your license using the new eLIPSE system (formerly ePLACE) after June 16th, or refer to the How-To Guides produced by the state.
  • Create an account / Log in: You will need to create an account on the MyMassGov system if you haven’t already done so in the past.
  • Link your license: If you already have an existing license, you’ll need to link it to your online account. You will be asked to provide the License Number, License Type, your Date of Birth and the last four digits of your Social Security Number, so that they can connect it to your account.
  • NEW Required documents: You will need to submit additional documents, such as a (1) notarized CORI Authorization (2) proof of Continuing Education Credits (CEUs). (3) You will also need to upload a current photo of yourself.
  • Payment: Fees can typically be paid via credit card or ACH transfer.
  • Keep a copy of your receipt: You should receive a receipt via email after your renewal application is approved.
  • Print your License:  Once approved, licenses will be provided digitally. A digital license is valid just like a hard copy license. You can verify your license with a screenshot, a digital printout, or by logging into eLIPSE.  DOL will no longer print and mail licenses for Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons.

Additional Steps For Brokers:  If you are a broker renewing, you will need a copy of your recent Bond and E&O Insurance, along with everything named above.

Licensee Candidates:

If you are assisting a candidate for a new license:  PSI will no longer process applications. Any applications received after that date will be returned to the applicant with instructions to apply directly with the Board using the new eLIPSE platform.

Real Estate Schools should be aware of the minor form updates that accompany this transition. Certificates of Completion issued after June 13 must be updated. The Board has provided a sample certificate that may be used, but approved schools have the option to create their own, provided it contains all the required fields specified by the Board. The reference form has also been updated and will now capture only one reference per document, requiring the applicant to submit three completed forms. The CORI Authorization form has not changed.
While the new forms must be implemented moving forward, any submission using the PSI Certificate of Completion or the old reference form that were signed and stamped prior to June 13 will be accepted by the Board.

Although PSI will continue to administer the exams, the process for obtaining a license has changed. Once a student passes the exam, their file will be transferred to the Board. The Board will issue a digital license via eLIPSE once the necessary payment is received. A digital license is just as valid as a physical license and can easily be verified through a screenshot, printout, or direct login to the eLIPSE system.
