We were thrilled to present the Christian Center with a $1000 grant awarded by the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS’s Charitable Foundation.  Board staff, Sue O’Brien, submitted a grant application to the Massachusetts Association for their consideration based on the great works that the Christian Center does for all of Berkshire County, and their tremendous efforts in the West Side of Pittsfield in helping to prevent homelessness and food insecurity.

The Christian Center’s mission is: “Uplifting the community by empowering individuals with dignity, nourishment, and hope”. Some of the methods they are currently using include providing healthy meals and recipes through their meal program; food, household and personal care products from their Food Pantry; clothing, small appliances, bedding, and other household items from the Boutique; referrals for housing, financial assistance, medical and mental health care from a licensed social worker; and volunteer opportunities in a variety of positions at the Center. All of these services and programs are offered without fees, and are open to everyone regardless of race, gender, disability or sexual orientation. The Christian Center is a unique setting that allows for flexibility in approach, creativity in style, and multiple approaches to each circumstance.

Represented by Betsy Sherman, CEO and Pat Masoero, Financial Director; the Board learned of an increase in need following the pandemic with more families being served on a daily basis – from hot meals to food pantry and services provided by partner organizations.  We’re thankful to have the staff and volunteers at the Christian Center who lend such support in our community!  We also thank the MAR Charitable Foundation for offering local associations grant opportunities twice per year, so that organizations working in our neighborhoods can receive financial support for efforts they do to make Massachusetts a better place to live.  The foundation relies on REALTOR donations, which can be made here MAR Charitable Foundation | Secure Donation
