We have heard an emerging complaint that sellers in the midst of a transaction are often now home working/home schooling and shocked to find someone on their property without their knowledge. When an attorney orders the plot plan for their client, they often go to the home unannounced and takes exterior measurements and photos without an advance notice to the seller / seller’s agents. Please seller agents – alert your clients that they might encounter someone to be making these exterior inspections, often times without notice. We continue to encourage all parties, including attorneys and inspectors, to first alert the seller’s agent when anyone is expected to be on a property before showing up. It can be scary for sellers if they are not prepared. REALTORS on the frontlines should also reach out to their closing attorney in advance and request advance notice before anyone enters a property. Communication is key to keep everyone safe!
