State to Delay Collecting New Tax for Paid Family & Medical Leave

Governor, Charlie Baker, and legislators have agreed to a 3-month delay to the start of collecting tax for the Paid Family & Medical Leave Program.  Part of the delay will be some additional technical changes to better align the state program with federal law, and to allow employers more time to understand the rules and inform employees, and for insurers to offer a private sector-based option that businesses could adopt instead of the state paid leave program.
