About our Charity, Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N)
Social service agencies on behalf of residents in crisis, in the Berkshire area. Filing for relief can be made through social service agencies throughout the county, then Neighbor-to-Neighbor steps up to provide emergency assistance to help those with overdue utilities, medical bills, short-term housing costs and transportation problems. Checks are written to the vendor (landlord, utility company, pharmacy or mechanic) on behalf of the community member in need. The funds are not intended for long-term or ongoing assistance, but for strategic intervention to help achieve a measure of stability and avert further crises. For the first six months of 2021, the fund supported 310 households in 23 Berkshire County towns with $172,500 for needs such as rent, utilities, food and medical expenses. The fund is supported by community donations and although usage is unusually high at the moment, we foresee that the effects of the pandemic will lead to continued increased level of need this year and next.
