New Licensees Take a Month or More

It’s not too early to be thinking about spring and the mad rush of new licensees that want to jump into the market. The Executive Director of the Division of Professionals Licensure Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons reports that the processing time for a applicant to be approved, to sit for the exam, is about 3-4 weeks. If it is taking longer it may be because there is item on their CORI check that is requiring further steps or perhaps a hearing to determine that the applicant meets the threshold of Good Moral Character. That could add several months, depending on information needed and or the board meeting schedule. Then testing and license issuance. Firms recruiting should plan accordingly.
