Here’s a Win-Win Way to Help Foster Children through DCF’s Totes for Tots

The REACT committee has been working with the Department of Children & Families (DCF) toward a goal of putting together duffel bags for kids (infants through 18) who are removed from their homes under emergency situations.  These kids typically leave their residences very quickly, and have no opportunity to take any of their possessions with them.  As you can imagine, its a harrowing experience for them and they arrive at their temporary foster home with no personal items.

We’ve created a simple way, through Amazon, to purchase items to be included in the duffel bags, and are appealing to you to help us stock up on supplies.  What you choose to purchase is entirely up to you.  Items can be delivered directly to the Board Office:  99 West Street, Ste 200, Pittsfield, MA 01201.  We’re hoping to stock up to 50 duffel bags over the course of the next few months.  April 1st is our deadline for receiving items to stuff the bags with.  Please consider participating in this extremely important, emergency housing / emergency supply project.  Thank you!

If you prefer to purchase locally, below is a list of requested items:

  • Blanket
  • Toothbrush / Toothpaste
  • Baby Shampoo / Conditioner
  • Adult Shampoo / Conditioner for teens
  • Small toys (i.e., matchbox toys, dolls)
