The Berkshire County Board of REALTORS is proud to recognize Suzanne Crerar of Stone House Properties, LLC in West Stockbridge as our 2016 Berkshire Good Neighbor Award Recipient. This award is given to an outstanding REALTOR who contributed greatly to our Berkshire community. We recognize Suzanne primarily for her tireless efforts working on behalf of Construct, Inc in Great Barrington and also for her generous nature serving where needed locally, including the Breaking Bread Kitchen and Pantry,
Suzanne has donated hundreds of hours to supporting Construct services in her role on the Board of Directors, Housing Development Committee and Governance Committee Chair. She is an active fundraiser for their major annual events, such as Mayfest and Walk with Us, in addition to emerging events. She is dedicated to continuing her education in order to apply it to the committees and boards that she serves. She is thoughtful and diligent in everything she does.
Not only has Suzanne spent hundreds of hours on the board of Construct, raised thousands of dollars to go toward helping Berkshire County families, she is also inspiring future leaders for the board.
Construct provides housing and support for those in need in the Southern Berkshire region. This non-for-profit offers a range of counseling and educational and support services designed to help homeless and low-income to moderate-income people to lead self-sufficient lives.
They currently have 70 units of affordable permanent housing options: This includes 20 units that prioritize homeless families and individuals of which 13 are for homeless who need supportive services in order to remain stable in their housing. In addition, we have 10 units (bedrooms) of transitional housing for homeless men and women.
Elizabeth Rosenberg, Construct Board President had this to say:
“I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Suzanne Crerar on the Construct Board of Directors for the past two years and have been so impressed with her commitment to Construct’s mission.
Although Suzanne had no previous experience with Governance she attended a series of workshops to learn about this critical component of Board operation. Afterwards she agreed to head the Governance committee. As chair she spent many hours compiling a Board handbook for all Directors, as well as assumes responsibility for recruiting, meeting and interviewing new Board members. As a realtor and member of our Housing Development Committee, she has proven to be an excellent source of potential properties and a knowledgeable consultant in the acquisition and pre-development process.
At Board meetings Suzanne always asks pertinent and penetrating questions. Her grasp of the situation and desire to help those in the community at need are evident. In addition to attending Board meetings, Suzanne has given many additional hours to helping Construct. She has participated at all our fundraisers working behind the scenes to make them a success and has single-handedly raised more than $15,000 from sponsors for our annual WALK to Prevent Homelessness, more than any one single person has raised in the 27 WALKS Construct has held over the years.
Suzanne is truly a person who cares deeply about her community. Her desire to help people is admirable, and her energy and commitment to the Board invaluable. ”
Congratulations Suzanne! We thank you for making the Berkshires a wonderful home for all.
