Giving Thanks by Giving Back

Each Thanksgiving week, lines of families in need wait for holiday meal assistance through a coalition of area churches – held at South Congregational Church Soup Kitchen up the hill from the Board Office.  There are several ways you can help, but each year, the REALTOR family handles the task of Thanksgiving Angels Greeters/Parking attendants.  Eric Steuernagle is coordinating volunteers to help direct traffic and people to make sure it is an orderly and safe process.  He is looking for those who can commit to 1-1/2 hour time slot on Monday November 25th or 26th – outdoors on your feet.  Here is a link to sign up for a time slot.  https://tinyurl.com/angels2019 Please get in touch if you need help!

Many of our members also participate by baking breads!  The Berkshire Thanksgiving Baking Angels (Facebook group) is a group of community volunteers who bake sweet holiday breads for distribution on the Monday before Thanksgiving through the ThanksgIving Angels food project at South Congregational Church. Started by Lisa Fletcher-Udel in 2015, they aim to bake 1,200–1,500 breads — banana, zucchini and pumpkin – to be included in the family meal.

You can also donate directly to them via their donation page to make a donation to this annual community effort. Please be sure to check the box “I would like to designate this donation to a specific fund” and select “Thanksgiving Angels” from the dropdown menu. Thank you!
