Since the Berkshire professional standards hearings are now held as part of the statewide initiative, we are looking for some of our interested members to get trained to possibly be considered for state appointment on hearing panels. After training, you may elect to join the committee when available. The MAR Professional Standards Tribunal Training will be held on February 1st, 2024 from 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM at MAR Headquarters, 18 Washington St., Foxborough, MA (Check-in begins at 8:30 AM) RSVP Now by emailing Kate Berard at MAR.
Training will be led by renowned instructor, Diane Disbrow. The training will emphasize the responsibilities of member Boards, elected Officers and Directors, and the members of the Grievance and Professional Standards Committees. It will also familiarize participants with the obligations and rights of complainants and respondents in Professional Standards matters.
Through a unique blend of interactive lectures, captivating game shows, practical case studies, and active student participation, students will come away with an understanding of the elements of due process and the role of the Grievance Committee in reviewing ethics and arbitration cases. Additionally, Procuring Cause factors will be presented and students will be able to apply those factors in considering who is entitled to the compensation in a cooperative transaction.
Diane Disbrow has over 41 years of active real estate involvement and extensive volunteer work within the REALTOR® organization. As a long-standing member of the NAR Professional Standards Committee and the Interpretations and Procedures Advisory board for the past 20 years, Diane’s genuine passion for the subject ensures an informative and enjoyable session!
As a reminder, Professional Standards Training is required every other year for members of MAR’s Professional Standards and Grievance Committees. You may complete this training through MAR or another program offered through a local association. Please note that this course does not provide CE credits, but does satisfy NAR’s Code of Ethics training requirement.
