Franz Forster, a REALTOR® since 1996, became actively involved in the Association in 2002 when first elected to serve on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) Board of Directors. In 2005 he was elected to serve as President of MLS and in 2008, the REALTORS® elected Franz to the Presidency of the Berkshire County Board of REALTORS®, the MLS parent company.

He actively participates in many REALTOR® Community Service events, such as Thanksgiving basket creation for needy families, the Realtor Holiday Elf program for children and doing prep work for soup kitchen dinners. He serves as an official moderator of the Board’s education classes and speaks at the New Member Orientation program. He actively serves on hearing panels for the Professional Standards Committee and has been appointed Chairman of hearings held to arbitrate business disputes or settle matters of alleged unethical conduct.

Franz received a Presidential Appointment to serve as a Massachusetts State Director in 2008 and 2009. In that capacity, he will attend all state meetings, take part in the regional caucuses and vote on state issues including fiscal matters and budgets, bylaws, governance and the general workings of the state association.

In our local community Franz also serves with distinction. For roughly 10 years, he headed Berkshire County Consumer Advocates, our regional consumer protection office working in conjunction with the Mass. Attorney General’s Office. Franz has many years of active involvement with Berkshire community organizations as well, with an emphasis on education-related associations, environmental advocacy and cultural institutions.

Currently, Franz serves on the Pittsfield Conservation Commission, as Treasurer of the Lakes and Ponds Association of Western Mass. (LAPA-West), as the PHS Representative on the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council, and is a member of the PHS School Council, Berkshire Chamber of Commerce and is a Tanglewood Business Partner.

First licensed in the State of Massachusetts in 1990, Franz opened Franz J. Forster Real Estate located in Pittsfield. He obtained his BA from Rutgers University and his Juris Doctorate from Western New England College School of Law. Born in Bern Switzerland, Franz came to the US as a child and currently resides in Pittsfield with his two children and his partner, Pam Malumphy.
