Have a license Renewal Coming Up? Prepare!

The phone rings often at the board office with issues when members are trying to renew their real estate license using the new eLIPSE system.  If your renewal is coming up, you can start or even complete your renewal process up to 90 days before the expiration date. In most cases, getting the documents ready in electronic format on your computer for upload, in advance really helps make the process goes quickly:

  • A NOTARIZED CORI Authorization form [CORI Authorization]
  • Proof of Continuing Education- 12 hours – you will need to list and upload at least 6 certificates for 2 hour courses. They must be different courses!
  • A color photograph 2 x 2 of yourself (think passport photo) ready to upload.
  • A way to pay! All renewals are now 100% online, including payment

Brokers and Brokerage licenses also need:

  • A NOTORIZED copy of your Broker Bond. [Broker Bond Form]  Your insurance company can provide that!
  • Proof of Errors & Omissions Insurance, to upload.

We highly suggest you either create or login to an account on Mass.gov [Instructions] anytime to have that step completed… and try to link your real estate license to your account.  That step has been where system glitches show up the most.  If you have that login information and your license is connected, you can then simply login to the eLIPSE portal using that information [Direct Link] and follow the prompts to upload the required docs and answer the required questions.

Other things to note:

  • Once approved, licenses will be provided digitally. A digital license is valid just like a hard copy license.
  • You can verify your license with a screenshot, a digital printout, or by logging into eLIPSE.
  • Division of Licensure will no longer print and mail licenses for Board of Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons.
  • If you have team that holds an LLC, your Proof of Errors & Omissions Insurance may be as part of the master brokerage policy but MUST align with their levels of risk.
  • If you were licensed in MA through reciprocity with another state, they will accept CEs from your home state or Massachusetts.
