Exciting news about a first-time homebuyer assistance initiative happening this Spring. Our representative from Mass Housing has just shared that eligible first-time homebuyers who lock in their MassHousing Mortgage between April 27 and July 31, 2026 may be able to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity. During this time frame, MassHousing will offer a $25,000, 0% deferred, subordinate homebuyer assistance loan, which will temporarily replace the current 15-year amortizing $25,000 second mortgage loan at 2% or 3%.
This new homebuyer assistance option is available statewide to borrowers earning up to 135% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Those income limits are higher than you’d think! Eligible Household Incomes range from $129,870 – $220,725. Many first-time homebuyers have seen their buying power reduced due to high interest rates and increased sales prices. With this flexible approach to homebuyer assistance, those same borrowers will have more choices. Please review the Expanded First-Time Homebuyer Assistance flyer and share with interested buyers!
