Do you know someone who has shown an extraordinary commitment to community service? Seeking Nominations!

We are seeking nominations for the 2015 Good Neighbor Awards. The awards—now entering their 17th year—recognize members of the The National Association of REALTORS® who dedicate themselves to volunteer service.  One winner will be chosen as the ‘Berkshire Good Neighbor’ by a selection committee and their application will be forwarded to the state and National Association of REALTORS for consideration of higher awards.

Ideal candidates are those who have played an instrumental volunteer role in the success of any local civic, charitable, cultural, youth or school group project or program. They have shown an extraordinary commitment to community service which has helped make their community a better place to live.

  • Berkshire Award – Our “Berkshire Good Neighbor Award Recipient” will be honored locally for their outstanding acts of volunteer service for the Berkshire community. Their charity will receive a $100 donation and the selection committee will forward the candidate’s information to the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS Good Neighbor Awards Committee.
  • Massachusetts Award –  The three Massachusetts individuals chosen will be presented with MAR’s Good Neighbor Award and honored at the annual MAR REALTOR® of the Year and Professional Awards Banquet and receive $1,000 toward their organization, to be held in September of each year. Furthermore, the three REALTORS® selected by MAR for this honor will have their applications forwarded on to NAR for entry in the National Good Neighbor Award competition.
  • National Award – Nationally, five winners are chosen across the US, and each winner is recognized at the 2015 REALTORS® Conference & Expo in San Diego and will receive a $10,000 grant for his or her charity. Winners also receive travel expenses to the conference and considerable national and local media exposure for their cause. In addition to the winners, five honorable mentions will each receive a $2,500 grant.

“The Good Neighbor Awards remind us that REALTORS® build communities in many different ways,” National Association of REALTORS® President Chris Polychron, executive broker of 1st Choice Realty in Hot Springs, Ark., said in a statement. “I’m proud of the positive effect the more than 150 Good Neighbor Award winners have had on those in need for the past 16 years.”

Submit the name of the deserving Berkshire REALTOR and we’ll follow up with the application that must be completed.  Or, if preferred, you can fill out Microsoft Word Doc  GoodNeighborAwardsApplication and send to Sandy@BerkshireRealtors.com.
