NAR has another new consumer guide that might be helpful in connecting with your clients or potential clients this month: Making your Home More Energy Efficient
Heating and cooling a home can be a big expense, especially with energy bills climbing in many areas. If you worry about energy costs, you’re not alone. An estimated three-fourths of Americans say they’re concerned about rising gas and electric bills, according to a 2025 poll by PowerLines, a consumer education nonprofit organization. This guide gives practical tips to make your home more energy efficient. You can co-brand, share and use this to connect with your circle of influence.
Part of this guide links out to a REALTORS Residential Sustainability Report that has interesting data: In April 2025, NAR surveyed its residential-focused members about sustainability issues facing the industry. The findings are as follows:
- Client interest in energy efficiency is increasing. 42% said clients rarely ask about energy upgrades, a steep rise from seven percent in 2024. Those reporting that clients never ask declined from 57% to 29%.
- Green MLS data is underutilized. 44% said their MLS includes green data fields, but nearly half (47%) of those with access do not use them.
- The most important green home features for clients are windows, doors, and siding, with 37% rating them as very important.
- Transportation convenience matters to clients. 30% rated proximity to frequently visited places as very important, followed by commute time (29%) and highway access (26%).
These guides are designed for you to share and use as you see fit in your role as an industry educator. Enjoy!
