Brokers / Brokerage Important License Updates!

All or New Affiliated Agents: We shared instructions last week for brokers to add affiliated agents to the Board of Registration of Brokers and Salespersons records. A common question was whether this applies only to new licensees or all current affiliates.  The Board has confirmed they do not have access to affiliation data from before the transition to the eLIPSE system. As a result, brokers should update their firm records now for all affiliated licensees to avoid issues with license renewals or other administrative delays.

The goal is to ensure the system accurately reflects where each licensee holds their real estate license.  About time!  The online form needs the Name, License, and Start Date of those agents along with the license of the business.

Hard copy? In other news, do brokerages need to hang a hard copy image of each licensee in their physical office, if they have one?  The Board recently determined that display in a physical office is no longer required, but the firm is required to have all copies immediately accessible if requested by an investigator or member of the public. That can be a hard copy file or more likely, a digital file, of all licensed copies.  Make sure if you have this information accessible for review. It will also make the above process a little easier too!

If you have a large number of agents that need to be added, you can download and complete the Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons Business License Affiliations Form. Once the form is completed, please email it to elipse.support@mass.gov.

Please allow us 3-5 business days to fulfill this request.
