“As I enter my seventeenth year as a Realtor, I feel like a veteran agent, yet there is never a dull moment. I continue to marvel how every single day in this business brings new, interesting, challenging and every-changing issues.

The one constant over the years has been the strong sense of camaraderie and team work that prevails throughout the Berkshire Realtor network. Whether sales stay together or fall apart, I find it a pleasure to interact with the membership of our local association. Our teamwork and creativity together has saved a number of transactions that might not have stayed together if not for our joint willingness to overcome challenges. Many friendships have been formed that would not have come into existence if not for the Realtor connection.

Participating in other Realtor activities gives us the opportunity to interact on a non-business level and continuously showcases the many talents that members of our local organization possess. It has been quite educational to learn about the incredibly diverse backgrounds that many of us bring to our profession.

However, I will say that attending last year’s National Convention in Chicago and meeting Realtors from across the country was one of the most inspiring experiences. There was a different feeling at the convention last fall, as it was so soon after the tragedies in September. It seemed that everyone was incredibly friendly and feeling some cohesiveness as one large group. Realtors were quick to share their travel experiences to Chicago and the many changes they had experienced.

Listening to our NAR president address the Realtors (over 7000 of us) in the large McCormack Place convention center was truly inspirational. There was not a dry eye as he spoke of Realtor volunteerism and activism post September 11th. The spirit of all Realtors was so evident on that evening. I believe we were all very proud to look around at our fellow Realtors and know that we were together part of something truly remarkable. It was and remains a privilege to be part of the Realtor organization.”
