April 11, 2015: Kids’ Place 5K and 1 Mile Color Fun Run

Whether you are a serious runner, or are a couch-potato hopeful, this event is for you! Beginning at 10:00 a.m. there will be a 5K run for the athletes amongst us and at 11:00 a.m. there will be a 1 Mile fun color run for the rest of us. During the fun run, be prepared to be squirted with non-harmful colored cornstarch to show your true colors at the end of the run. $20 registration for the 5K, $15 registration for the fun run. All proceeds raised are to benefit Kids’ Place, a county-wide child advocacy center located in Pittsfield. Register at: https://www.thedriven.net/event.race_reg/eid/1291025689

There are several ways you can help, in addition to joining the American Dream Team and participating in the run, or the color-run. REACT will also be in the spray booth at PHS manning the cornstarch spray guns and helping with clean up. Sandy Carroll will chair.

☐ I’m rocking the runner bod and know it…I want to run with the serious athletes!

☐ My running days are past me now but I’d love to run/walk/skip in the color fun run.

☐ Whoa, running sounds like a dirty word to me but I can work a spray gun.

☐ Show me the way to a hose and broom – I’ll help to clean up.

May 20, 2015: Habitat for Humanity Build>>> Looking for Hammer Swingers or Donors

Berkshire County REALTORS® represent at a Habitat for Humanity Build Day on May 20th. Even if you’ve never picked up a hammer this is a fun and rewarding way to help out Habitat. We are also in the process of arranging a beginner’s guide to all things tools at Lowes at the end of April. Dates for that excursion (carpooling available – not required to participate in the build) will be announced soon. Habitat aligns so well with the REALTOR mission. Their founding convictions state: “Every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety. Decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.”

While not required to participate, each volunteer is respectfully requested to raise $100 to cover costs of the project, coffee break and lunch and a t-shirt. Chaired by Rose Schnopp.

☐ Sign me up; I’m prepared to have fun while working hard to build a safe and durable home.

☐ I’m new to this ‘tool’ word… sign me up to help and let me know when the Lowes field trip is.

☐ I’m not ready to strap on a power tool, but I’ll make a monetary gift

☐ I’d like to participate in some off the jobsite volunteering (i.e., support Habitat office staff, volunteer as a Financial Tools Coach, volunteer at ReStore)
